As the World Cup kicks off in South Africa, much has been made by the international soccer governing body, FIFA, that this is a World Cup for the African continent. There’s no doubt that the love of soccer in Africa is huge. Take Ethiopia – its team is ranked 123rd in the world just above the Faroe Islands and they won’t be competing this year. Yet despite their poor showing, Ethiopians will be watching the games closely. The BBC’s East Africa reporter Will Ross met this group of delightful children in Lalibella in the Ethiopian highlands, about 500 miles from the capital Addis Ababa.
